On 7. December 2017, the third Next Economy Award, was awarded in Düsseldorf, Germany’s major prize for ‘green founders’. As has already been reported, the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy, in collaboration with the Stiftung Deutscher Nachhaltigkeitspreis e.V., is honouring four start-ups that are drivers for social and environmental sustainability. It is the largest event of this kind in Germany and KEYOU was selected nationwide as one of three start-ups for the category ‘technology’.
Unfortunately, at the end of the day we can say: ‘It’s the taking part that counts’. The winner was the company “Enerthing”, a manufacturer of a solar film that may replace primary batteries. Nonetheless, KEYOU is very satisfied for having been awarded as one of the top 3 startups within our category by a top-class jury. The awards were presented by Philipp Lahm, Sara Nuru and the Parliamentary Secretary of State Dirk Wiese. Honourary prizes were further received by the Swiss adventurer Dr. Bertrand Piccard and the Hamburger musician Jan Delay, who also performed at the evening event for the 1.000 guests from economy, municipalities, research and politics.
During the second night of the German Sustainability-Day culminated with awarding the winners and honorary laureates of the 10th German Sustainability Prize, including her Majesty, Queen of the Belgians, Annie Lennox, Dr. Jane Goodall, and Marius Müller-Westernhagen. Among the stage actors were: Prime Minister of NRW Armin Laschet, Prof. Dr. Klaus Töpfer, Otto Waalkes, Dirk Steffens, Natalie Wörner and Sara Nuru.
