Numerous industry events have been cancelled since March because of COVID-19, and even the IAA Commercial Vehicles 2020 – which was to take place in the autumn – is falling victim to the corona virus this year. But the organizers are not willing to throw in the towel completely. Webinars are therefore a welcome change and an established alternative to replace face-to-face events with professional online events.
With pleasure KEYOU accepted the invitation of Dan Woywod, Head of Railway Technology at the German Association of the Railway Industry (VDB), to give a keynote speech on KEYOU and our H2 combustion technology for the VDB working group ” Overhead Contact Wire Independent Traction (FuT)”. Railway industry? Rail? Sure, because diesel engines are still in operation on the railways but need to decarbonise in the future. Thus, here too, manufacturers and customers alike are discussing emission-free hydrogen engines as a future alternative.
During the webinar on May 19, a lively “online debate” unfolded and feedback questions came back, in which engine map width and transient behaviour were discussed as well as exhaust aftertreatment, hydrogen storage, and maintenance & operation in comparison to diesel engines. Well-known companies, manufacturers, and enterprises from the rail sector have been participating in the working group event. KEYOU was represented by Dr. Thomas Ebert, development engineer and technical project manager, and Jürgen Nadler, head of marketing.
