KEYOU last came into contact with the Association of German Transport Companies (VDV) on two occasions. The VDV, in which around 600 German public transport and rail freight companies are organised, regularly organises information events for its members, to which experts from politics and business are invited as speakers. On November 25, Pierre Steffen, responsible for strategy at KEYOU, first presented the KEYOU concept of an emission-free hydrogen bus at the regional conference “Electric Buses and Alternative Drive Systems” in Bremen. A few days later, on December 9, Alexander Werz, Project Manager Vehicle Integration at KEYOU, gave a lecture on the same topic in Munich as part of the technical committee meeting.
Although there were lively discussions about the different alternative drive technologies in both events, a common conclusion could still be drawn: There are still many questions about batteries and hydrogen, especially about the respective infrastructures that have to be set up after deciding on a technological direction. But one thing also seems clear: the dice as to which technology will prevail are far from being cast. There is a great deal of scepticism as to whether the currently proposed solutions will make us happy in the long term. The openness, curiosity and popularity for the hydrogen engine was great – only the corresponding vehicles are still missing on the road. But be certain that they will come, too. KEYOU & Partners are working on it!
