Climate change is noticeable for all of us. Hot summers and mild winters are almost the rule. Ever since the first UN Climate Change Conference in Berlin in 1995 (COP 1), the goal of the participating countries has been to mitigate the effects of climate change and push for effective solutions for a sustainable future. This is where the „Vision 2045“ initiative launched by Reuters and TBD Media comes in. Over 50 global business and industry leaders – including executives from listed companies such as CHIRON Group SE and AE Group, as well as Bundesliga clubs Borussia Dortmund and TSG Hoffenheim, and R&V Insurance – were networked during a three-day summit in Sharm El Sheikh to discuss practical strategies for a just and sustainable society. The event featured a series of highly interesting panel discussions – with hand-picked decision-makers from politics, business, and society, each focusing on one of the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals. Thomas Korn, CEO, and co-founder of KEYOU GmbH, also participated in one of these panel discussions. Together with Björn Brecht from Kieback & Peter, Dietmar Reindl from Immofinanz, and Cornelia Ballwießer from Progress-Werk Oberkirch AG, Thomas Korn discussed „The Cities of the Future.” In addition to the importance of hydrogen as an energy carrier, Korn also addressed, among other things, the advantages, and opportunities of the hydrogen engine for achieving global climate targets.

The Munich-based clean mobility company KEYOU, which traveled to Sharm El Sheikh with a small delegation and attended the Innovations Days of the COP27, is in line with the goals of the United Nations with its conversion technology for the commercial vehicle sector and is actively contributing to a CO2-free future with its solution. To this end, the company has been working on a conversion solution for trucks and buses since 2015. Only recently, the first two prototype vehicles from the Munich-based company were presented to an international trade audience at a highly acclaimed world premiere at the „IAA Transportation“ in Hanover. With its technology called „KEYOU-inside,” KEYOU enables the cost-efficient transformation of conventional engines to emission-free hydrogen engines – without having to make major changes to the underlying engine. In addition, the hydrogen specialist has developed an innovative „Hydrogen Mobility as a Service“ approach that breaks down the much-cited „chicken-and-egg problem“ and offers fleet operators and end customers a simple and attractive entry into the world of alternative drive systems through fully comprehensive hydrogen mobility solutions.
